Linkedin
started off as a social network for business professionals and has been
expanding to focus on recruiting, content, and skills development with their
acquisition of Lynda.com. It’s safe to say that Linkedin is building an entire
ecosystem around their platform to focus on the business world. However, I
think there is one area LinkedIn is lacking in and that is providing
transparency around various organizations. In other words, we now have the
professional history of potential candidates, courses that people can take on
Lynda.com to make themselves better candidates for prospective positions
(eventually), and basic company information. But there’s no way to tell what
it’s like to work at a company, what the culture is like, if it’s a great place
to work, what the benefits or perks might be, or anything else that a candidate
might want to know. This is why I think Linkedin should acquire Glassdoor which
offers all of this information and then some. To me this is the next logical
relationship for both of these companies. I talk more about this in the video
below so tune into the latest episode of the #futurein5 and let me know what
you think. Is there another company that you think might make an interesting
acquisition for LinkedIn? Tune in and leave me your comments!
